Who Wore It Better: Theia Edition
Mel B was recently spotted at an NBC event looking simply chic in a dress from
Theia Spring 2013. Just a month before, Emmy Rossum was also spotted in
the same Theia for the premiere of her new movie, Beautiful Creatures.
This begs the question..who wore it better?
Both ladies kept accessories simple and hair pulled back, which let the dress
shine all on its own. Mel B's version definitely fit the occasion. She looks
put together and professional with a bit of casual accessorizing. Rossum
looks classy and elegant with her chandelier earrings and silver shoes,
which give an interesting contrast to the dress. In the end, it was Rossum's
red lip that sealed the deal. The classic color gives a timeless feel to the
look and elevates the whole ensemble!

The changing of season brings us to some of our favorite bridal trends. We looked to the runways and celebrity nuptials and chose some of our favorite bridal trends. Not to worry, our favorites are feminine and fashion forward with a hint of tradition. Our first trend is the column wedding gown, which serves to elongate a bride's silhouette. Although it's more of a timeless gown, it is especially great for petite brides, but this silhouette is not to good at concealing problem areas. Our next trend is the peplum. This style is great for two reasons-it can add curves to brides who have a square or rectangular figure as well as conceal any problem areas at the midsection. If you have an hourglass figure, keep the peplum at the waist. If your figure is more on the petite, square side, you should opt for a peplum at the hip which will enhance your figure. Ruffled gowns are our third trend. These are perfect for any bride who has a pear shaped body. If you are a bit shorter, the ruffles might overpower you. Last, but definitely not least is the short bridal gown. A shorter gown can create balance for a bride who has an hourglass figure and is also a great way to frame your gorgeous legs!

This figure flattering trend has been spotted on celebrities and fashionistas everywhere. If you've been a little hesitant to try the trend on for size, here's a quick tip that might sway your skepticism. If you're a curvier gal with an hourglass shape, choose a waist peplum. Doing so with not emphasize your hips and instead define your lovely waist. If your body shape is a little more on the rectangular side, choose a peplum that falls at the hips. I had such a wonderful time at the Sadie Hawkins dinner dance at Hoover High School-it's my hometown and I love it! This dance is one of the biggest events of the year.
The Sadie Hawkins Dance is the "one time of the year" where girls can ask the guys to attend the dance. Considering the fact that I am fifteen and this was my first true couple date and first high school event, I was very nervous about asking my friend Sam to the dance. Sam hinted several times he wanted to go and I finally got the nerve to ask him and we were both excited about this.
We went with six other couples and my friend Cassidy; I was really excited to style her hair and make up. We had dinner at a friend's house and then it was off to the dance. NewYorkDress.com and I chose Sherri Hill 2934 in light pink. This

To be in the feature film California Solo with Robert Carlyle, Kathleen Wilhoite, Alexia Rasmussen, Danny Masterson and A Martinez is by far one of the most special moments of my life. The premiere was held on December 7th at the Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles. In preparation for both premieres, the New York Dress team and I collaborated on several choices. We looked at designers Sherri Hill, Jasz Couture and Allure along with several other popular New York Dress designer styles. Once I arrived in Manhattan I went straight to the New York Dress studio for a fitting and photo shoot. The stylist suggested Allure A408
in Sky/Brown which I thought was absolutely perfect for the California Solo Premiere in LA. When I saw the Allure dress for the first time I knew right away it was perfect for me. The bodice has silver sequins with silver threaded rope that gave the dress a very swirly, girly look. The ruffled skirt gave it a flowing effect and because I'm a dancer, I loved the overall fit of the babydoll dress.
The lace up back enabled me to adjust the bodice to fit my chest area perfectly. I felt very age appropriate and confident in this dress. I just turned fifteen so I wanted to look as close in age to my character Arianwen (14). I wore my hair as I naturally wear it and I was asked by the press, (who loved the style), to show off the back of the dress for photos as well. To accentuate my overall look, we chose Sonny 1550 and Sophie 1998E. It is an honor for me as an actress to attend the California Solo Premiere- it is truly a night I will treasure in my heart forever.

I stepped off the airplane in NY and hailed a cab to the New York Dress fashion studio to meet the amazing New York Dress team who greeted my mom and I at the door with the warmest welcome. Three beautiful designers dresses awaited me in size 00. The shoot was so much fun and we laughed the whole entire time and the photographer even captured a few action still shots of the crew and I which was totally cool! New York life is so busy compared to LA. On the way to the premiere my family (brothers, mom and dad took the Subway to take us to the Quad Cinema Premiere of California Solo.
I felt like Sarah Jessica Parker coming out of the revolving hotel door for the first time with the bright lights of New York hitting my glamorous Jasz Couture 4419 (in royal). Hailing a cab and taking the subway to get to the screening was such an indescribable, happy feeling. The New York Dress Purple Collection (earrings and bracelet) accessories complimented the dress perfectly pulling my entire look together.
I was a little nervous watching myself on the big screen again although I had seen California Solo for the first time at Sundance Film Festival in January. This time I felt more relaxed. I got to sink into a comfortable place and have what I like to call an out of body experience not really seeing the character as myself for the first time, but as the lovely Arianwen she was created to be alongside Robert Carlyle and Kathleen Wilhoite.
Everyone complimented the New York Dress that I chose. New York truly is a city that never sleeps and New York Dress is a testament to those famous Frank Sinatra lyrics from ,"New York." Teen actress and our guest blogger Savannah Lathem stopped by our studios last night to get fitted for the dresses she'd be wearing at the New York and California premiere of her latest movie, California Solo. In the film, Lathem plays Arianwen, the daughter of British rocker Robert Carlyle. In a review by The New York Times, Lathem was referred to as 'touching.' While we'll have to wait until the film hits theaters, Lathem will walk the red carpet for both premieres. Day Two: Behind The Scenes
We couldn't possibly fit all the fun and fashion into one day at our photo shoot so we had to extend it another day. Day two was a frenzy, a fun one, at that. Our stylist Jonah decided to give our model Katy an entirely different look than our last shoot. We bid farewell to the heavy liner and blood red lips and said hello to softer bronzes and pinks. Jonah used soft golds, pinks and browns for Katy's makeup and gave her hair a naturally tousled look. What do you think of the looks?

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards
The ninth annual CFDAs took place this past week in New York City where some of the fashion world's elite mingled with some of Hollywood's finest starlets. On hand at the red carpet event was Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, Ashley Greene, Karlie Kloss and Dakota Fanning, to name a few. The event honored promising young designers with monetary and mentorship awards. The night's big winner was Greg Chait for his knitwear collection, Elder Statesman, while Tabitha Simmons was runner up. Here's the night's fashion round up

Tadashi Behind The Scenes
After catching up with Tadashi Shoji's newest collection during NYFW in September, we couldn't wait to get our hands on some of Shoji's exquisite pieces. During our photo shoot last week, we had the opportunity of seeing these designs up close and instantly fell head over heels with them. Our models were over the moon in these pieces as well. Tadashi's Spring 2013 is a collection that pays homage to his tried and true affinity for French lace and romantic layering, while adding some vibrant splashes of color to the realm. Strap Happy 101
Clutches can add an element of glamour to any evening outfit, sure, but sometimes a girl just wishes she could swing that clutch over her shoulder. Truth be told ladies, after an hour or so of toting a clutch around at a cocktail event, a strap would definitely come handy, pun intended. We're giving you the 101 on how to add a little added benefit to your favorite clutches. It's a cinch!
The How To
1. You want to start off by choosing the perfect material. This material doesn't have to match your purse's fabric perfectly. Have fun with it! Make sure that the material isn't too thin that it tears easily.
2. Measure the fabric so it’s the length you want from the bag to your shoulder and then back again, and add an inch on both sides because this is where you're going to sew it onto your bag. The width will be 5 inches, If you opt for a chain handle, measure the length and have your chain pre-cut to the length you want.
3. Fold the fabric in half and sew lengthwise along the edges.
4. Make sure to turn the fabric inside out so that the sewn part is hidden and detect the spots on the purse where you want to attach the handles.
5. Make sure both sides are the same length and sew each end to the purse. Cover any frays with embellishments, such as studs or glitter. For chain handles, choose an appropriate glue, (make sure you have the right glue) and glue the ends on each side. Let the handles dry and voila!

Bella Thorne's Quinceañera
I attended Bella Thorne's Quinceañera and had the honor of being fitted by New York Dress. There are so many beautiful dresses to choose from at New York Dress, so I started looking by looking at all the categories for different occasions. In the end, I narrowed my designer search down to two dresses selections for my wish list. After some thinking, I knew that La Femme 17649, cocktail dress was my favorite choice for this special occasion. I love to dance and twirl and I knew there would be dancing at Bella's party so this dress was a really easy choice. I loved the way the La Femme dress flowed. The color is an unusually beautiful light lime with silver sequins on the bodice and a sweetheart neckline. It also has silver sequin straps fitting diagonally across the back which complimented my back and shoulders. The overall look of this fabulous baby doll dress was age appropriate for me since I am 14. I had the most amazing time choosing my accessories too. I chose to wear a beautiful pair of silver dangle earrings to match the glitzy bodice, a set of silver rings and a silver clutch. I chose a french manicure (clear coat) with Rimmel London French White Tip Pro on all fingers and toes and topped it off with silver glitter (Nicole by OPI Scandal Secrets and Sparkle) on my ring finger to match the silver sequin embellishment on the dress. I chose to keep my hair casual and loose as I wanted my overall style to be simple and elegant for Bella's event. My friends said the look was simply stunning.

One thing everyone should know about New York City is that every event is a perfect opportunity to leave a fashionably lasting impression. Celebrities, of course, have this mantra down to a T. At this week's American Ballet Theatre Gala in NYC, there was plenty of memorable couture, including Solange Knowles' floral Dolce and Gabbana gown and Mary Louise Parker's in a wine colored satin dress by Anne Klein. We'd also like to add that Solange pulled off the dark lip and eye look beautifully, amending the age old rule of never donning a bold eye and lip. How'd she do it? She created balance by opting for sparkly midnight blue eye shadow and a matte lip. (We secretly can't wait to try this!) Who got your vote for best dressed?

Actress Anne Hathaway had a not-so-secret wedding this past weekend and while the photos were quite blurry, we still have an idea of how her custom Valentino gown looked like. Her wedding gown seems to have appeared as an off the shoulder illusion gown with a beautiful full tulle skirt. It also appears to have had some sort of white pattern all over the bodice, but we'll have to wait on more detailed photographs to surface. Jovani 5406, ($340) is mesmerizing! I chose two different nail polish choices for this look. The first one I used was OPI Alpine Snow coat (white) applied evenly on nails except the ring finger. For the ring finger I chose to use OPI Gone Gonzo which has a baby blue color mix with glitter . I wanted to keep the look stunning. For the second choice I used two coats of Gone Gonzo (baby blue color mix with glitter) on all of my fingers nails. I feel like this look adds a pop of color giving the Jovani 5406 a totally daring, edgy look.

Casie and the Sequins
The day we shot this sequin mini dress, we kept bumping into street art and instead of looking the other way, we incorporated the city's artsy corners into our shoot. The final verdict, of course, was that we loved Casie's Boutique Ginger mini more than any piece of art we saw on the walls. We didn't have to do much for this shoot-Casie wore her blonde locks naturally, with natural makeup and a pair of crystal embellished ankle strap stilettos, (Tony Bowls Jenny). This dress features a sheer decolletage which follows in the footsteps of the illusion trend. The body conscious bodice is completely covered in multicolored sequins, making it one seriously sparkly mini party dress.

Japanese designer Tadashi Shoji has an affinity for French lace and wasn't afraid to showcase it front and center of his Spring/Summer 2013 collection. This past year, we saw handfuls of Oscar-winning actresses dressed in Tadashi's gowns. Models donned cocktail dresses with Peter Pan collars, trapeze dresses, long-sleeve gowns, strapless gowns, and tiered tulle gowns. There was also colourful piecework and ikat-print dresses requiring a second look. Tadashi marries his beautiful craftsmanship with brilliant colour-playing with vibrant blues, reds, blacks and creams.

With Homecoming celebrations around the corner, we couldn't help but fall in love with one of this season's biggest colors: blue. You might be able to breathe a little easier after reading this: it's time for New Yorkers to wind down. One look at the Spring 2013 runway collections and it feels like you're breathing fresher and lighter air. What we noticed on the runways was the light infusion of watercolor inspired wafty dresses, loose silhouettes, organic color patterns and a transition from red to orange as the 'power color'. We took a look at our collections and drew inspiration from the Spring 2013 runways.
Fashion forecast: light and dreamy floppy hats, relaxed silhouettes, soft colors, loose blouse dresses, romantic lace, feminine details, nudes, pinks and oranges.

A Casual Affair
With so many wedding shows featuring over the top weddings with ballooning budgets, it's understandable why many couples think bigger is better when it comes to their wedding. While those shows do make for entertaining television-there's a sudden trend in weddings that calls couples to 'take it down a notch or two.' We're referring to the casual affair-the wedding that calls for a small round-up of guests, finger foods, no intricate place settings or eight piece orchestra-the laid back backyard wedding. An article in last month's New York Times revealed a shift over to the more casual side of things. Our wedding theme this week is Old Hollywood bride. We can't help but be inspired by the brides of yesteryear-including Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn. Each of these women had a little something that made them stand out. They were, without a doubt, some of the fashion world's first trailblazers. This week, we're inspired by Hepburn's dress in Funny Face. While Hepburn's cap sleeve A-line gown was designed by Givenchy-it's timeless silhouette is still worn by brides everywhere. One bridal trend we're really loving is the convertible gown. In the past couple seasons, bridal gowns have really been revolutionized with minor tweaks that make the wedding gown a bit more personal. One trend that we saw on the Spring 2013 runways was the convertible wedding gown. When brides think of their wedding dresses, it seems they want more. We love the idea of a two in one gown that offers two completely different looks. We fell in love with designs from the likes of Reem Acra who turned out beautiful and functional convertible wedding gowns. Get the best of both worlds in a convertible gown-starting off with a long and glowing gown for the ceremony and ending as a glamorous and chic cocktail dress that allows for mobility during the reception. Mar Saura dropped jaws at the 2012 Global Gift Gala in an blush and metallic beaded gown by Oscar de la Renta. How To Choose Your Dress
So you're engaged; after the champagne and handfuls of congratulations have worn off-reality sets in. Now what? You may have had your ideal of a perfect wedding dress,(or two) but before you hit the ground running, take note of a couple tips.
-What time of the year will your wedding be taking place?
-Where will your reception be taking place, (i.e. a ball gown dress might not be appropriate for an outdoor reception)
-Will you be wearing a store bought dress or a custom made dress? Perhaps you'll even be wearing a vintage dress that needs some tailoring done to it. A custom made dress usually takes about four months from start to finish so it's important that you give yourself enough time to make changes.
-Set a budget: remember that you don't have to spend a fortune in order to have a beautiful dress. Do give yourself some wiggle room just in case you have to spend a little extra on tailoring, beading etc.

Your Silhouette
-Above all else, you should always feel beautiful in your dress and part of that is due in part to the fit and style of wedding dress.
-Stay true to yourself and what looks best on you. Perhaps there's a part of your body you want to conceal or highlight. Work with your tailor to make this happen.
1)The Ball Gown: this style was originally introduced by Queen Victoria. This style works on women of average height and flatters fuller and hourglass figures.You can choose a heavy fabric which will give your dress body and weight or a lighter fabric for a weightless effect.
2) The A-line: this dress follows the shape of an A from the narrow part of the bodice to the outer edges of the skirt. This style is very flattering and elongating to different body shapes.
3.The Empire Waist: this dress featured a high waist and is usually cropped at the bust line. It is mostly flattering to women with a smaller chest-but not necessarily for a woman with a larger bust.
4. Mermaid Cut: This dress is fitted throughout the bodice and flares out at the knee or a little lower than the knee. This style is flattering to the hourglass figure and is equally flattering to a woman who wants more body
5.Sheath Dress: This dress is perfect if you are comfortable showing your curves. It fits close to the body-it is perfect for women who have narrow hips and are taller. Avoid this style of dress is you have wide hips and narrow shoulders.

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall
Here are some findings for you to ponder: a study conducted by UK brand Simple Skincare, revealed that the average woman looks into a mirror at least eight times at their work place and about fifty percent of the women, (2,000 in total) don't leave their house without a compact mirror and look into an average of 10 times per day.
Now, a new article
in The New York Times coined the trend, "mirror fasting," which refers to the practice of not using a mirror at all-or at least weening yourself off of using one. What were the findings? According to the article, 'mirror fasting' helps you take the focus off of yourself. The study also found that women who partook in the study found themselves more 'serene' and with a higher self esteem.

For those of you who've faced the bridesmaid dilemma-you know what it's like to love the dress and leave it in a garment bag at the end of your closet. For those of you who haven't been a bridesmaid, take not-just in case the opportunity ever rises in the future. We're here to let you know that bridesmaids' dresses can be worn again, can be restyled; in short, there is life for these dresses long after the nuptials. During our wedding shoot, our stylist Jonah restyled Bari Jay 351 by adding a loose knit sweater, a chunky rose gold watch, neon rope bracelets and some floral Doc Martens. After being restyled, the dress transformed itself into a maxi skirt, (it can be our secret).
*Tip: Don't be afraid to incorporate casual pieces from your wardrobe, like an oversized blazer, a boyfriend button up, sandals or denim jacket. You'll be surprised where a little creativity can take you.

We fell head over heels with Stella McCartney's side panel madness in her fall 2011 collection. Our jaws dropped when we spotted Gwen Stefani wearing a sultry body suit with side panels. NYD: Can you tell us a little bit about Scala and the new Ashley Lauren collection?
SCALA: SCALA by ASHLEY lauren is designed with special attention to every last detail, to accentuate and caress every curve and contour of a woman's body. Using the latest in materials for superior construction, we pride ourselves in providing our customers the look and feel that brings out the very essence of their beauty.
NYD: What made you want to start designing?
SCALA: It was never easy for me to find a dress that was classic and sexy at the same time. Also, I love bling, so to find all three qualities in one dress was even more difficult. That is why I created the line!
NYD: Where do you find inspiration for your design aesthetic?
SCALA: I wanted to create a line that is young, beautiful and playful, yet still affordable. This collection is about creating a sensuous experience and distinctive look and fit that bring a higher level of poise and confidence to a woman, wherever she wears it. We love soft, sexy ruffles and dresses that complement a woman's curves, and of course we love the bling!
NYD: What are some of your favorite pieces from your new collection?
SCALA: I am loving SA1043. I recently wore it to a fashion event and received so many compliments. SA4004 is sure to get you photographed and SA4007 is great to have in your closet because of its versatility!
NYD: What do you think women look for in an evening dress?
SCALA: Well, for me it is about fit and construction. I like it when the dress stays up. A good corset is essential for that, so I put extra attention into the construction of the garment and the details of the built-in inner corset. My goal was to give my customer a couture fit and look at an affordable price.
NYD: You mentioned that you travel a lot, do you think that traveling affects your view of your customer?
SCALA: Thanks to my travels, I have come to understand how important it is to have clothing that is universal and can be worn more than once. It is fun to be trendy, but it is smart to be classic. SCALA by ASHLEYlauren fits into any culture and can be worn by any age.
NYD: What trends are you embracing this season?
SCALA: For me it wasn't about the trend so much as it was about making a dress that makes a woman feel like she can take the world on when she’s wearing it. We used lots of sequins and beading, which is trendy now, but we used them with classic silhouettes so these dresses can be worn beyond "this season".
NYD: Can you give us the insider's dish about any up-and-coming collections? (Silhouettes, embellishments, fabrics, colors, etc.)
SCALA: We have been working on the new collection...I will stay true to making dresses that make a woman feel like she can take on the world. But that is all I am saying now!

Faviana: Some of our favorites include printed ball gowns and a-line ball gowns. We also love simple, classy styles such as 6428 and some of our hottest new slims.
NYD: What do you think women look for in an evening dress?
Faviana: Hmmm, most women look for something that flatters their figure. And they also want perceived value.
NYD: What trends are you embracing this season?
Faviana: We’re embracing beaded illusion and illusion with chiffon bottoms. We also have modified one-shoulder looks and have taken our own spin on the sequins.
NYD: So Kate vs. Pippa, which Middleton sister is making the biggest fashion waves?
Faviana: We’re partial to Pippa. Her shape and style are better for our designs, and she just looks gorgeous everywhere she goes.
NYD: We know Faviana's a master of celebrity gowns. What dress do you suggest for an unforgettable red carpet look?
Faviana: Simple, understated class. Our favorite stars to watch on the red carpet are Angelina Jolie, Carrie Underwood and Eva Longoria.
NYD: Prom's just around the corner, do you have any fashion advice for this year?
Faviana: Go for something different, and wear a hi-low dress or try a slit. Pair your hi-low or slit dress with some amazing shoes for a knockout prom look.
NYD: Can you give us the insider's dish about any up-and-coming collections? (Silhouettes, embellishments, fabrics, colors, etc.)
Faviana: We went after stretch mesh this year more than ever, and we used stretch taffeta and stretch satins as well. We’re is known for our unique prints, and we also tried ombre sequin dresses this season—these are sure to be a hit at all events this year!

Q&A with Niki Kapoor of Nika Formals
Nika Formals is a relatively new addition to the NewYorkDress.com collection. Known for unique patterns, hand-crafted beadwork and high-quality fabrics, this design house has become a new favorite of celebrities, stealing the scene on red carpets all over the world. Lead designer and founder, Niki Kapoor, took time to chat with us last week about her inspirations, a new focus on versatility, and the social causes behind the brand.
NYD: Tell us a little about Nika Formals.
NK: Nika Formals is based on the idea of being different, a little off the books. Quality is very important to us, and it's really a 'better-wear' type of brand. But ultimately, it's the effort we put into being truly different that defines our designs.
Recently, we've found a special niche in contemporary bridal. We're creating a different type of dress for the brides out there that just won't wear your traditional gowns. It's a little less formal and more reflective of the bride's individual style.
NYD: What inspires your designs?
NK: Well, as I said before. I have a huge itch to be different. I don't pay attention to what everyone else is doing. Usually, I have a specific look in mind and go with that. It has a lot to do with the cuts and patterns I use, and I love combining vintage and modern.
Color is a big thing for me. I love the colors in the sky, particularly at sunrise and sunset. That's where I'll find inspiration for new colors, and sometimes, I'll base an entire collection on one color.
NYD: Who is the Nika woman?
NK: She's contemporary, confident, and self-assured. She's very fashionable but uses fashion as an accessory, a means to express herself, not to define who she is. She loves style, has the strength to be different, and the desire to make her own way in the world.
Sometimes in fashion, women are so overshadowed by what others say they should be, but the Nika woman is happy to be her natural, beautiful self.
NYD: What do you like about this season's collection?
NK: I've been told that this year's collection is so different that we have no competition. That's a great compliment. We did a lot of short dresses, and I wanted to create pieces that were more versatile than usual, which really pushed me out of my normal range. I'm curious to see what our customers will think of the versatility. The goal was to keep the functionality working for them. And as usual, color was important, but this time the colors are softer and the collection is a little more vintage. That's just where I was this year. There's more dresses in this collection that I love than ever.
NYD: Can you give us a sneak-peak of next season?
NK: Soon I'll be working on a fall collection. And right now, I'm feeling soft, flowing fabrics. I want to make dresses that are functional and beautiful for my customer. That means designs with a little bit of embellishment but more focused on cuts and patterns. I'll keep it light, clean and soft with lots of chiffon and silks. That's my goal right now anyway; we'll see where I end up.
NYD: What's the best fashion advice you've received?
NK: Hmmm, professionally, I'd have to say the best advice I've received is to follow my instinct and not worry about what everyone else is doing. That and to design what I love because that's what is going to work out to be beautiful.
NYD: What's the one indispensable item in your wardrobe?
NK: My boots. I have a pretty big collection of them. I love tall boots and have been wearing them since before they we're popular. Right now, I'm living in my riding boots. I'm also really into jackets because they are so versatile. You can pair them with practically everything for a unique look. I have a collection of those too.
NYD: Holiday party season is coming up, and what what will you be wearing?
NK: I'm going to be wearing a lot of my own designs. So you'll see me in contemporary short dresses with unique textures. I'm not into bright colors for the holidays. Instead, I like nudes, beiges, whites and off-whites.
NYD: Tell us about the social agenda behind Nika.
NK: Nika is a philanthropic brand whose goal is to use its success and influence to pay it forward and do good things. Our main rule is 'design to empower'. We want women and girls to be very confident about their beauty and promote a positive image of themselves.
Our project S.E.E.D. is up and running now. We are developing our first orphanage in India where we will take in homeless children living in harsh environments—homeless, forced labor, prostitution, etc.—and support them with food, shelter, education and kindness. We want to give them the opportunities they deserve. We'll start in India and grow around the world.
Projects like S.E.E.D. and others are the real mission behind Nika. We want all of our customers to know that we give back. A Nika dress is a purchase you can feel good about, and our customers' support really matters.

This past week has been full of happy surprises
for us here at New York Dress. It's Homecoming season, and our customers are busy ordering dresses. We're also just beginning to see the upcoming lines for this year's prom 2011season, and we can't wait until these dresses are ready for purchase. Amidst all this hustle and bustle, we had one of the best surprises ever. Jovani, a longtime business partner of ours, awarded us with the "Excellence in eCommerce Award."
Jovani awarded us with this plaque because of our commitment to providing excellent customer service through our online store. We were very happy to receive this award and look forward to continuing the longstanding relationship we've had with Jovani and providing the highest quality service and merchandise to our customers.
We feel very grateful for this kind of recognition like this from a top designer. The manufacturing and sales of faux-designer products is becoming an epidemic in the realm of online retailing, and too many customers are being victimized. 2010 has been a remarkable year for Sherri Hill. Always a favorite, Sherri Hill gowns and cocktail dresses make a routine appearance at beauty pageants all across the world. Elegant, feminine, and stylish, too, the dresses exude grace with youthful charm that’s befitting of any beauty queen. And even though the label is no stranger to the beauty spotlight, it’s still a big accomplishment when both Miss America and Miss Universe are crowned in Sherri Hill.
On January 30th, 2010 Miss Virginia, Caressa Cameron was crowned Miss America. She wore a dazzling Sherri Hill evening gown in yellow satin with a rhinestone bodice and flashy one-shoulder neckline. Simple and refined, the gown complemented the young contestant’s carefree style, and the boisterous yellow hue matched her glowing personality.
Fast forward to August 23, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas. After days of competition, Jimena Navarette, Miss Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2010. She chose a stunning red evening gown by Sherri Hill, artful in its elegant design. Delicate pleating at the bodice, an embellished one-shoulder neckline, and a graceful flowing overskirt captivated the world’s attention from the pageant stage. Shimmering ruby embellishments added to her enchanting charm.
In addition to the crowned winner, all of the top 15 contestants wore the same Sherri Hill cocktail dress during the competition. This fun party frock is a trendsetter with chic bandage layers and flashy rhinestone embellishments. It flatters several different body types and can be worn in a variety of styles. Maybe it’s this versatility that keeps the label in the pageant limelight? We’re not really sure, but one thing we do know is we can expect the same quality, fashion-savvy, and refinement from Sherri Hill that will always be a leading contingent.
