A Gothic Masquerade
A Gothic Masquerade!
I received an invitation to a Venetian Masquerade Ball. The dress code: strictly requiring
masks, the venue: mysteriously somewhere in New York City only to be revealed the day
of the Ball. I was overwhelmed by excitement and began to plan my attire. My vision was
to look like an exquisite flapper-girl from a Gatsby banquet with influences from the
Phantom of the Opera.
Being a fashion enthusiast I was beyond excited! I love to dress up for all occasions,
especially so for a glamorous Masquerade Ball. This invitation was especially dear to me
– as I starred in the Fashion feature film in promotion for this Venetian Masquerade Ball.
I was so proud to have my handcrafted Tassel Lariat Necklaces and rings from the
OLGA PARKERS JEWELRY Collection highlighted in the film.
theme. I found the perfectly flattering laser-cut mask in Black Gunmetal with crystal
details and scalloped edges. The mask was cleverly concealing just enough to make my
identity nearly unrecognizable, while revealing skin beneath and accentuating my eyes
creating a sultry cat-eye.
On my quest to find The Dress – I came across a breathtaking black Scala slender gown,
delicately beaded with black and silver sequins in an Art-Deco fashion. I instantly fell in
love with the long length, the revealing back and the deep V necklines, edges outlined in
linear silver sequins further accentuating the décolleté. I have always found backless
silhouettes to be extremely flattering to all body types. The backless neckline was very
modestly sexy, flattering and above all extremely Elegant. The gown fit perfectly over my
curvy physique, the ornate lines of the beading elongating and slenderizing. I love how
glamorous and extravagant it looked! The style was ideal and just what I had envisioned!
JEWELRY treasures the Grand Gothic Ash Tassel Necklace in metallic gunmetal. The
long length of the necklace allowed for folding the lariat in half and delicately
intertwining the beads before looping the tassel ends through the middle creating a
necktie. The matte and metallic texture of the dark Gunmetal Hematite beads
complimented the glimmering beads on the dress. The necklace ever so gracefully
positioned in the middle in my décolleté, framed by the silver edging on the extravagant
Scala gown. I selected several midi-rings to wear on each hand for a delicately poised
look, stacking the blackened Silver Black Widow rings alongside the yellow gold Square
shank rings.
My makeup look was inspired by the style of vintage Hollywood Starlets. I made sure my
complexion was porcelain-like, contouring where appropriate and highlights along the
brow arch, top of cheekbones, and cupids bow of my lips for an extra glow. I focused on
my eyes by creating a winged cat eye over natural tone eye shadows and volumizing
mascara. I finished the look by painting a red pout using a crimson matte shade lipstick
from YSL.
course and a matching miniature black clutch to enclose my lipstick, compact mirror and
perfume. The evening felt like a Whimsical Fairytale and I, Cinderella, attending a Ball,
except the banquet would continue past the midnight hours and I was swept away in a
black limousine. Dreams Do Come True!
