FNO Highlights

Holy Fashionista, the season has arrived! Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is on. While the tents at Lincoln Center are home to most of the action, yesterday’s festivities were opened up to the whole world for Fashion’s Night Out. From New York to Milan, Atlanta to Australia, the party was a mix and mingling force to be reckoned with. And what about those celebs? Justin Bieber was in the house! Dolce & Gabbana threw a grand fete which included the Bieb himself along with a golden list of others (congratulations Mama Beyonce and Papa Jay Z!).
The department stores created their own theatrics with alluring window displays (yes, those were Playboy bunnies serving cupcakes at Bloomingdale’s) and celebs galore. The high end boutiques kept the parties hopping with Drake on the turntables at Versace and Nikki Minaj tweeting her way around town. The list goes on with grade A superstars, but the biggest headliner of the night—Miss Piggy who caused a stampede at New York’s Ace Hotel! Now that’s bringing the FUN back into fashion! Here’s the scoop on FNO.

Anna Wintour, who organized the entire event for the past 3 years kicked off this year with Fashion’s Night Out, The Show. A hundred and fifty models (including Gisele) traipsed around the water fountain at Lincoln Center wearing the now seminal FNO logo tee with designer skirts and heels. It was all very anthemic with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” blasting out of the speakers. And because of the round-the-fountain seating, everyone got first or second row—how’s that for equal opportunity fashion?
Dance-offs seemed to be a theme for the night, and there was some serious competition. At Lanvin Joe Zee and Iman were judging. Tracy Reese offered free manis for those in attendance. And Stella McCartney brought in Alexa Chung to get the groove going as DJ. The wildest dance party of the night may have been at Macy’s where Coco Rocha brought down the house busting out moves for all to enjoy.
Downtown, holding court at her flagship store, Diane Von Furstenberg remained true to her elegant self. She tied scented ribbon around people’s wrists then let it all go to throw her own hands up in the air dancing to “Single Ladies.” DVF does diva better than most.
And the party wasn’t limited to people. The third floor of Bergdorf Goodman featured dogs on the catwalk! BG’s Best in Show spotlighted swanky canines decked out by fashion’s finest. Dogs, feathers and champagne. Glamour has literally gone wild.
