Oh to be a teenager again. Some of us can’t really remember,(perhaps by choice) the teenage angst, the thrills, the broken curfews and the search for independence, secret dates and first bouts with heartbreak. But Dutch artist Rineke Dijkstra’s exhibit: ‘Rineke Dijkstra: A Retrospective’ captures the moment in a young person’s life where they seem to be their truest selves. In one photograph, Dijkstra actually captures three teens at a beach in Ukraine who seem as if they’ve experienced traumatic events ‘that left them too exhausted to maintain social facades.’ Her photographs span youth from the 90s and 2000’s from around the world. The exhibit opens today and runs through October 8, 2012.
