Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama’s New Collaboration
Oh my, we are seeing spots! Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama have teamed up for a dot covered collaboration that is sure to be an all-out psychedelic fashion party. The 82 year old Japanese artist, best known for her repetition and patterns in psychedelic colors, was part of the pop art movement and had a huge influence on Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg. Kusama has been known for putting dots on everything including sculptures to tree trunks to herself. Conveniently timed to coincide with Kusama’s major retrospective at the Whitney Museum in New York, their collection will be unveiled on July 10. The collection will feature dot-covered items like silk pajamas, dresses, trench coats, jewelry, bags, and shoes, all in vibrant primary colors. The products will be sold in Vuitton’s 461 stores starting on July 11, with a second wave of goods arriving in October.
