So you missed this year’s Austin City Limits, SXSW and Bonnaroo. Wipe those tears babycakes, you can still catch some live music at this weekend’s Northside Festival in Brooklyn. The festival begins on June 14 and runs through June 17 with music acts including Twin Sister, Jens Lekman, Of Montreal, Beach Fossils and Caveman, to name a few. The Northside Festival is NYC’s largest and most accessible “discovery festival,” which means you’ll get a first listen at up and coming bands from across the country. Northside showcases what’s next in music, film, art and entrepreneurship, all in a location described as a melting pot for creative types: Brooklyn.
On Saturday, Northside Art will take over the block of Bedford Ave from N8th-N9th Street as part of the Williamsburg Walks series – temporary wall units, interactive installations and sculptures will be staggered throughout the block for live painting performances, graffiti and other participation oriented works. On Sunday, over 80 artists who live and work in Williamsburg and Greenpoint will open their studios to the public to engage in conversation. Music and art weekend? Why not?!
