Welcome to our newest wedding feature! We’re taking real NewYorkDress
brides and featuring their special day. These brides were excited to share
their experience and reminisce about the most magical moments of their
wedding day. They searched high and low for the perfect wedding dress and
found it on our website.
Say hello to our first bride, Carson Acevedo! She tells us about her husband
Alex and the romantic story that brought them together.
Where did you meet?
Alex and I met on a blind date in Brooklyn around 2008. I remember we
hugged and I just knew it felt right.
How did he propose?
Alex proposed to me in the parking lot of a bowling alley on our two year
anniversary. He told me he had a present for me and made me close my eyes.
I remember thinking “It’s cold out here, can’t he give me my gift inside the
car?” When I opened my eyes, he was on one knee right there in the parking lot.
How did you choose the right dress?
I looked through tons of dresses and, once I saw the pockets, I knew this Mori
Lee was the one. It was the dress of my dreams and the shape was perfect. The
pockets gave it a unique edge. I saw a similar gown in Bride Magazine for
$4,000, which made this dress feel like a steal. It was well-made and the bead
work was stunning. The quality was so good even my seamstress was impressed
by the price.
Where did you get married?
Alex and I come from different religious backgrounds and we needed a neutral
ground for our families to celebrate. We chose the Queens Botanical Gardens,
which was the perfect setting. The surroundings were filled with beautiful
foliage in a multitude of colors. We barely had to decorate since nature did it
for us. I’ve always loved the Botanical Gardens so it was a dream come true to
be married there.
What is your favorite memory from the wedding?
Our vows! Alex and I wrote our own vows and they were very personal, not
to mention emotional. They reflected our love perfectly and it’s a moment
that I’ll never forget.
