The Girl That Could: Nora Ephron
Yesterday, we learned of screenwriter and journalist Nora Ephron’s passing. Ephron, was without a doubt, the queen of the quips. Many of us may recognize her as the creative mind behind films like, ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ ‘Heartburn’ or even her best selling book, ‘I Feel Bad About My Neck And Other Thoughts On Being A Woman.’ However it was that you discovered Ephron, you can probably join the rest of us in saying that she definitely gave a voice to her female audience. She taught her fans about love, loss and everything else in between. A true role model, Ephron was a trail blazer and worked through her gender barrier in her career as a newspaper journalist, filmmaker and writer.
The New York Times wrote:
‘She refuted the fear that powerful women repel men, that funny girls go home to their cats, that having it all means enjoying it alone.’
