Stay Cool and Look Hot in a Little White Dress
Posted on July 14 2011
Tis the season of the white dress. For some, that means bringing out the big guns for your wedding day, (hello Kate Moss, we loved you in that Galliano gorgeousness!).
And for others, the little white dress (LWD) is more of an every day affair, something to be relied upon for cooling off in style.

We love our LWD! We consider it a summer time staple as we continually count on its versatility for every occasion—it’s our blank canvas waiting to be styled. But it does require some know-how. Which is why we’re going to divulge our favorite tips and tricks.
The LWD provides the perfect relief for the hot-hot heat of summer. White acts as a repellant to the burning rays. If you’re blessed with dark skin, or have tanned to the max (either from the sun or the bottle) then you and the LWD are an ideal match. On your next date night, step out in this true white lovely, and turn every head that crosses your path. If you fare on the paler side of complexions then opt for a sweet ivory such as this lacy accented frock that will both flatter and forgive as you stroll around town.
Once again we mention the steamy weather which means fabric choice for your LWD is key. Keep it cute and comfortable. A lightweight cotton or naturally cool linen will feel fresh during the day. At night a silk chiffon will flow with the breeze, and a soft jersey will cling in all the right places.
With white it’s best for your dress to have lining. Nobody needs an unwanted peep show. But if yours comes without, then don’t forget the proper undergarments. You’ll want them to be skin toned, not white. And you’re best off with a full slip and camisole for maximum coverage.
The best feature of the LWD is it goes almost everywhere. While we were huge fans of Pippa Middleton at the Royal Wedding, we’re going to say no to wearing white on someone else’s big day. But that’s the only rule. Accessory-wise, white can be worn with everything. It’s your chance to have fun! Add metallics for extra sheen, let black bring in the elegance, and use red or fuchsia to say ta-da.
Here are a few more styling tips to work wonders with your LWD:
-Wear sky high heels
-Add an armful of bracelets
-Tie it on with a flowy scarf
-Finish it off with a bright clutch
